Sweet Stamping Treats First Ever New Release Blog Hop

Welcome to Sweet Stamping Treats First Ever New Release Blog Hop! We are so happy you are here. If you are coming from  Gina's blog,  you’re on the right track. If you just joined us, you can go back to the beginning at sweetstampingtreats.blogspot.com/ and hop along with us from the very start.

This hop is all about the new releases at Sweet Stamping Treats. The DT and some fun friends have put together some awesome projects using SST's new digi stamps. And there are prizes! One lucky winner who comments on the SST Blog will get to choose 3 stamps from the new release. Plus there are 3 more chances to win 1 stamp of your choice from the new releases hidden in some of the blogs on the hop! All you have to do is hop along and leave comments. You must be a follower of SST and the blog where the stamp is hidden to win a stamp, so make sure you comment!

Here is a card I made with the chicken digital stamp from Sweet Stamping Treats. Being that I'm a city girl, I was a little concerned as to how I would use this stamp. But, then I remembered that I had this cute farm animal patterned paper in my stash along with the checked paper and adorable farm animal ribbon. From there, it was pretty easy to put this card together. I used Copics to color in the image. I'm pretty much a newbie to Copics, but I think it turned out okay! I think this stamp can be paired up with a friendship sentiment (think "HEY CHICK" for example). You could also use it as a blank notecard as I chose to do. Thanks for looking and hope you have fun hopping along!

Hello Kitty Cookie Cutters = KAWAII !!!

I posted this on my FB page yesterday and had a few friends message me to ask where I got this awesome Hello Kitty cookie cutter set. I thought I'd go ahead and post a blog entry to spread the wonderful HK news! LOL

I had read that Wilton had just released this set and had been keeping an eye out for it for at least the past month. Last Friday, my boyfriend and I had to run to Waikele to pick up a few things. I figured I'd stop in at Party City to price some stuff for Madison's birthday party. I was checking things out, when lo and behold, I spotted the HK cookie cutter set!!! I was ecstatic and immediately turned to my boyfriend and said, "Babe, I NEEEEEEEEDDD to buy this!!!" I was so happy to have it in my hands!

Don't quote me on this, but I *think* the set cost $3.99? I know it was fairly inexpensive. By the way, I also purchased the Hello Kitty cake pan from Party City a while back. It was cheaper at Party City than at Ben Franklin. You could always wait for a 40% off coupon to use at BF, but I'd rather use it on scrapbooking stuff. So, if you've been wanting the Hello Kitty cake pan, you may want to pick one up at the same time you pick up the HK cookie cutter set.

I'm not sure when I'll actually be able to make cookies, but does that really matter? No, what matters is that I OWN the cookie cutter set. Yes, I am a "collector" of baking supplies and not just crafting supplies! LOL!!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great Monday!

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Happy Sunday! It's been a relaxing day so far. My boyfriend mowed the yard while Madison and I supervised (LOL). Afterwards, we had breakfast and then watched "The Fighter" on Netflix. It was an interesting movie -- not one of my faves, but entertaining enough, I guess.

Last night, we went to a birthday party for another set of twins. I'm happy to say that we have no more birthday parties to attend until the one we're throwing for Madison's first birthday. It's been a whirlwind of events, and we need a break! Well, no more parties, but we do have to buy a gift this afternoon for my older daughter's friend. Guess I will have to fit in a trip to the craft store at the same time ... tee hee.

Anyway, here is one of the cards I made for the twins yesterday. I did actually make two of these. I used some glittery paper from a stack I've had for a while. The image is Cotton Candy Leah from Whimsie Doodles. It was my first time doing digital coloring, and I have to say that I wasn't real pleased with the results. The shade of pink that printed was very different from the pink on the screen! I know my pink ink is running low, so I'm not sure if the result was because of that or something else. It was late at night, so I didn't want to fiddle with it anymore. I definitely like the look of hand coloring over digital coloring, but the nice thing is that you can easily change colors when going the digital route.

I added some pink bling and a stamped sentiment from Hero Arts. I also stamped "Happy Birthday" on the inside of the card. I really wanted to add some ribbon and had the perfect ribbon to use. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to use on both cards so I had to do without. *sad face*

Well, I'm going to squeeze in a little power nap before hitting the road. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. ALOHA!

Butterfly ATC

WOW! Things have been so hectic around here lately! I've been spending a LOT of time planning Madison's first birthday party. So much to do! I have a 3-ring binder with all my ideas, lists, and notes. I'd be totally lost without!

Aside from birthday planning, we've had a few activities to attend. Saturday, we went to a birthday party to celebrate THREE birthdays: a set of twins and their brother. This evening, we went to a funeral service for a friend. It was a beautiful service, and we will always remember him with fondness in our hearts. Monday evening, we have yet another birthday party to attend and another party next Saturday for another set of twins! WHEW!!!

With all that's going on, it was nice to take a little break and work on some ATC's for a swap. I haven't worked on ATC's in almost two years! The small canvas was nice to work with because it was less work. LOL! The theme for this particular swap was butterflies, and we only needed to make three. I loved that I only had to make a few.

I started with chipboard ATC's that I purchased off Etsy. I really like the firm foundation that it provides. I adhered paper from the Basic Grey Out of Print line. I didn't think I'd like it, but when I saw it in person, I loved it! I think the papers in this line are so pretty! I added shimmer to the paper with Maya Mist in Iridescent Pearl. I really like the results!!! It's a little difficult to see in the pictures, but trust me, it does have such a pretty shimmer in person. I am definitely going to have to play with more of this stuff. I can't wait to add more mists to my collection. I also inked the edges of the atc's with Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Tim Holtz. I think the inking was a nice touch.

I added some Prima Bling and a dimensional butterfly sticker from the Martha Stewart line. The last thing I added was the phrase "alis volat propriis" which translates to "she flies with her own wings". I really like how this ATC turned out and, although I once swore off making any more ATC's, I'm actually looking forward to making more! Thanks for looking and have a great Monday!
